Giorgia Fiorio has developed a twenty-six–year research around the human figure across fifty-six countries.
The project Men, 1999-2000, on male closed communities in the Western society regroups a series of monographs in the anthology Figurae.
The Gift, whose book received in 2009 the UNESCO patronage 2000-2010, explores the ritual expression of Belief around the world.
The in-progress project Humanum the Archaeology of Being reconsiders the semantic heritage of human “figuration” in archaic statuary in the perception of our time. Since 2012 Fiorio has cooperated with The National Archaeological Museum and The Acropolis Museum of Athens; the Musée du Louvre in Paris; the Iraq Museum of Baghdad and Kunsthistorisches Museum KHM in Wien.

Within the frame of project Humanum, the presentation of The Lady of Warka and the Archaeology of Meanings received at its presentation’s symposium at l’University Ca’ Foscari of Venice on April 12th 2016 in collaboration with Lucio Milano, the Patronage of the Italian Commission for UNESCO. of the same project, the ongoing display since December 2017 at the Iraq Museum of Baghdad conceived and realized by Giorgia Fiorio under the scientific direction of Lucio Milano, received the Patronage of Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali; the Patronage of Ministero degli Esteri and the Cooperazione Internazionale of the Italian Republic and the Patronage the Embassy of Italy in Baghdad.

Founder and Director from 2002 to 2012 of the contemporary photography international seminar Reflexions Masterclass and Faculty at ICP New York from 2007 to 20015, Fiorio is currently Professional Affiliate of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, for the development of project Humanum in collaboration with the Department of Humanities of Ca’ Foscari University, Venice.

Fiorio’s book are published in: France by Actes Sud; Italy by Marsilio Editore; Edizioni Contrasto; Motta Editore; Germany by Braus Edition; Greece by Apeiron
Her works have been exhibited between the others at: Triennale di Milano; C/O Berlin, Germania; Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica Roma; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Parigi; Rencontres d’Arles; Parisphoto: Carousel du Louvre; Grand Palais; Institute of Polytechnic di Tokyo, Giappone; Scuderie del Quirinale, Roma, Italia; Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Castello di Rivoli, Italia; Biennale di Venezia 2012 and 2015: Padiglione Italia; Museo Fortuny and the Iraq Museum of Baghdad.
